Delay Tube

The Delay Tube demonstrates the speed of sound and how one's voice can be channeled within a tube.

Visitors speak to one end of a 100 meter coiled pipe and hear their voice at the other end. Since the speed of sound is a little faster than 300 m/sec the delay is about 1/3 of a second. This delay is very obvious.

The exhibit encourages visitors of all ages to experience, through fun social interactions the wonders of sound.
