Vortices are natural phenomena; they appear in Tornadoes and Whirlpools. This exhibit enables visitors to create and observe a vortex, enclosed in a glass tube. Turning the handle activates a turbine (fanlike device) at the bottom of the water column. As the turbine's speed increases, a water vortex is created.
