The Solar System Park

The Solar System Park represents our Solar System, which includes the four gaseous planets; Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, the asteroid belt, the four rocky planets; Mercury, Venus, Earth with its Moon, and Mars, and of course the Sun itself.

In reality, the planets differ greatly in size. To make even the smaller planets visible in this exhibit, we use exponential scaling, adjusting both the size of the planets and their distances from the Sun. For example, while Earth’s real diameter is one-tenth that of Jupiter, in our park it is about half, enabling visitors to appreciate the vastness of our Solar System. Information regarding this scaling method and the actual size of each planet appear in the explanatory signs throughout the park.

The spheres are aluminum alloy, where each one is carefully painted with exquisite detail by an airbrush artist – depicting the unique colors and look of each individual planet. The paints used are car paint, with a lacquer overcoat which is highly durable, protects from scratches, can withstand rough weather conditions, and keep the planets' colorful appearance.
